Sarah Ames, MA, MT-BC (she/her/hers)
Board-Certified Music Therapist
As a culturally responsive and neurodiversity affirming clinician, I am passionate about creating safe spaces for individuals to discover their full potential. Using music and play, these spaces are held with warmth, trust, and empathy. I use a whole-person approach focused on individual strengths and interests to guide the healing process. With a background in special education and early childhood development, I specialize in working with neurodiverse individuals and their families, in addition to children, teens, and young adults who have experienced trauma, anxiety, and depression.
I am currently working on my certification in DIRFloortime which is a Developmental Capacities, Individual Differences, and Relationship-based model. The ICDL descrbes Floortime as “an approach used to promote an individual’s development through a respectful, playful, joyful, and engaging process. It uses the power of relationships and human connection to encourage the development of the capacities for self-regulation, engagement, communication, shared social problem solving, and creative, organized, and reflective thinking and reasoning.” For more information refer to https://www.icdl.com/dir/floortime.
Therapy looks different for everyone. I admire your bravery and commitment to this process. We’ll start where you are and together, cultivate a space for healing and growth.
There is work to be done, there is work to be done
With these hands, this heart, this mind
There is work to be done, there is work to be done
